The Representation of Identity in Matthew Lopez’s ‘The Inheritance’ and Tony Kushner’s ‘Angels in America'

I have chosen to focus my presentation on the  representation of identity in both ‘The Inheritance’ by Matthew Lopez and ‘Angels in America’, both ‘Part One: Millennium Approaches’ and ‘Part Two: Perestroika’ by Tony Kushner. I hope to explore the ways in which these playwrights address the diversity of identity within  contemporary New York. In particular, I will focus on the representation of the queer community within these plays and the manner in which Kushner and Lopez connect the audience to our shared history of the past.
