Preparation of experimental stimulus

As part of a long-term project (see this website) on the processing of noun-noun compounds (illustrated in (1)) by non-native speakers of English, I am preparing a pilot experiment to investigate how the two concepts are combined into a new one.
(1) medicine cabinet; glass jar; moon dust; baby food
I need a student to identify noun-noun compounds that would be good candidates for our design: the two nouns have to be of high frequency and their referent has to be easy to represent visually.
Your task will be to search the CELEX database (in an Excel spreadsheet) for high-frequency compounds that you intuitively think meet the visual representation criterion. You will then compile a separate database with the chosen compounds, reporting their frequency (and a few other measures).

End Date: 28 November 2016
Hours: between 3 and 10 (negotiable)
