‘Sometimes I feel I have no real home except in language’ – Meena Alexander. This presentation will consider how geographical location is unavailable for the dislocated diaspora.Moniza Alvi and Imtiaz Dharker use the poetry form to create a home for the diasporic identity. Dharker has frequently been described as ‘Pakistani born, having grown up ‘in a Lahori household in Glasgow, she was adopted by India, married into Wales and now lives in London’. Moniza Alvi has experienced a similar movement around the globe. She was born in Pakistan and grew up in Hertfordshire.
